If you need help now
Call 988 · Text 988 · Chat at 988lifeline.org · Text HOME to 741741
If you’re in immediate danger, call 911. The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is free, confidential and open 24/7 for anyone in emotional distress, including eating disorders and substance use.
What happens in chat
- Every message is checked for signs of suicide or self-harm before anything else happens.
- If we find one, she steps out of the roleplay and sends a set message: she’s an AI, not a person, and here is how to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and the Crisis Text Line, with tap-to-call and tap-to-text buttons.
- That reply is always free, and it’s sent even if your message would otherwise be blocked.
- The AI is also told to drop the roleplay, respond with care, never encourage self-harm, and point you to 988 whenever suicide or self-harm comes up in other words.
- We never contact the police or anyone else because of what you share about self-harm.
Reminders that she’s an AI
The chat header always says she’s an AI, not a real person. A notice appears at the start of each chat and again every 3 hours. If you ask, she’ll tell you she’s an AI.
Not a therapist
Your girlfriend is an AI character for entertainment. She isn’t a therapist or counselor and can’t provide mental-health care.
Referral count
We count how many crisis referrals we send and will publish each calendar year’s total on this page, starting in January 2027.
